introducing OLFACTORY JOURNEYS collection from Rosendo Mateu

1965 - 1967

After his elementary studies, Rosendo went on to study technical chemical engineering while working in analysis and control laboratories and in cosmetic research. That was the time whem he became interested in perfumes.

1968

In 1968 when he was 22 years old, Rosendo beganu his olfactory study of ingredients in Grasse where he followed Jean and Marcel Carles method. There he acquired knowledge of the main natural and synthetic ingredients in scent and used fragrance chords and the classical schemes.

1970

During 70's, Rosendo travelled frequently to Paris and Geneva for several years, where he learned the different formulation schemes - so important at that time - with the study of their ingredients and specialties.

1988

Manhattan became the main center of creative perfumery in the world at the end of the 80's due to the influence of fashion and brands centered in this city.

2010

In 2010 Rosendo Mateu was named "Maître Parfumeur" and started his own project with Joan, his son. He started to travel and discover Asian countries such as Tahiland, Singapore, or the United Arab Emirates, where he discovered many new and exciting raw materials.

ROSENDO MATEU OLFACTORY JOURNEYS tells the history, education and life of Master Perfumer Rosendo Mateu. The collection pays tribute to Rosendo Mateu, who past away in May 2022, who dedicated his life to the world of creating fragrances.

This new collection contains of 4 fragrances, each celebrating an important mile stone in the life and work of MAster Perfumer Rosendo Mateu.

ROSENDO MATEU 1968 EDP
FLORAL - ORIGIN - NATURAL Rosendo Mateu 1968 is inspired by the origins of the master, his awakening to the world of fragrances and perfumes, his studies in Grasse where he acquired the knowledge of the main natural ingredients used in perfumery. 1968 is a fresh, floral, natural fragrance, based on the overwhelming fragrance of tuberose, sophisticated and sensuous. It is a clean green tuberose creation with rose, aromatic notes; and a base of vanilla, musk and woody notes which give the fragrance a delightful ending.

ROSENDO MATEU 1970 EDP
TONKA - EXPANSION - GLAMOUR Such as the city of Paris, Rosendo Mateu’s 1970 is associated with refinement, luxurious beauty, and glamour, like haute couture. It is a sublime expression of sweet sophistication. Citrus and fruity notes enhanced with the precious flavour of tonka bean. A complex and fascinating heart of chocolate, spices, woody, and earthy notes on a base of amber, vanilla, and caramel. Musky notes lurk among the heart notes, an incredible concentration of seduction.

ROSENDO MATEU 1988 EDP
OZONE - MASTERY - MODERNITY At the latest 80’s New York became the main centre of creative perfumery in the world. A place where Rosendo found the modernity which gave him the sense of individual power and freedom. 1988 represents the self-confidence and the mastery, expressed in a marine fragrance. It is a delicate balance of citric and fresh top notes that give way to aquatic middle notes of ozone, sea water, marine salt and undertones of white musk, hint of spices and woody notes. The fragrance tonality mirrors the tranquillity of the ocean, a new vitality that invites us on a self-discovery journey.

ROSENDO MATEU 2010 EDP
ORIENTAL - HERITAGE - TRADITION In the year 2010 Rosendo was named “Maître Parfumeur”, a nomination that certainly valorised his full dedication, commitment, and passion for perfumery. 2010 is influenced by his travels to Thailand, Singapore, or the United Arab Emirates where he continued developing his passion for raw materials. The first notes will show something aromatic and floral as well as the appearance of woody hints. After a while there are bursts of spices, resins, and balsamic notes together with saffron as the main note that are defined as an intoxicating smell. A fragrance that releases its hidden treasures, sweet notes, musk and dry woods when fixed in the skin.
